The excess string length allowing the beads to be free and be swung or dropped is unique to the Greek Komboloi. 

Carnelian:

Used since ancient times to make engraved gems and seal mounds, carnelian also has a long history in crystal healing.

It’s is known as a stabilizing stone that motivation and restores vitality. 

It is usually found in Brazil, Uruguay, North America and India.
